ON THE COVER
CT and sonography showed a distended gallbladder and sludge without evidence of acute cholecystitis. The hydroxyiminodiacetic acid scan was accurate in revealing acute cholecystitis, which was eventually confirmed histologically after cholecystectomy. The arrows show a duodenal diverticulum that mimics the gallbladder. Without careful analysis of the scan, the diverticulum would be interpreted as being the gallbladder itself and the scan would be read as not consistent with acute cholecystitis (false-negative).
