The Transfer of Image Data Between Computers by Diskette

Abstract

Adding new image processing computer systems or mixing brands of scintillation cameras with associated data collection hardware may leave image data inaccessible to the main departmental image processing computer. To avoid this problem, one may be forced into purchasing a less desirable camera with a compatible data processor to assure that all data can be read by the same computer. However, some laboratories may choose instead to develop software to allow dissimilar systems to communicate with each other. An outline of the steps necessary to design a hardware and software solution to diskette incompatibility is presented, and some details of two specific hardware combinations are described.
