Have you ever tweeted? If not, don’t worry—tweeting is not that hard, and it can be fun. If you can text, then you can tweet.
The goal of the JNMT Twitter Club is to provide a social media forum to discuss developments, issues, and scientific research of interest to nuclear medicine technologists. We hope to engage technologists around the globe and provide an opportunity for differing perspectives to be “heard”—in 280 characters or less. Everyone is invited, from students to technologists working in any setting. The more minds and thumbs the better.
How Does the JNMT Twitter Club Work?
One or two scientific articles (not a CE article) will be selected from each issue of JNMT. You read the article (which will be available at www.snmmi.org before the discussion), and at a specific time about 4 weeks after release of the issue, we all “discuss” it on Twitter using the #JNMTclub hashtag. Similar to other journal clubs, there will be predetermined discussion points to drive the conversation.
When Will Each Discussion Take Place?
The date and time of each discussion, along with the title of the article, will be posted in JNMT, in the SNMMI-TS newsletter Uptake, and on SNMMI social media. And of course, the information will be tweeted. Therefore, make sure you follow the JNMT Twitter Club at @JNMTclub and use the hashtag #JNMTclub on your posts in order to search for and follow the discussion.
The first JNMT Twitter Club will be a beta test with a limited audience after release of the December issue. The first worldwide JNMT Twitter Club will be in the spring of 2018.
How Long Will Each Discussion Last?
Each discussion will last about 1 hour, but if you have more to tweet feel free to carry on!
Who Will Lead the Discussions?
A member of the JNMT editorial board will lead the discussions. However, we hope that the authors of the scientific articles will also participate to provide interesting tidbits and answer questions.
Will CE Credit Be Available?
YES! One CE credit will be available after each discussion. The link to the required 10-question CE quiz will be provided during the discussion. The quiz will be available for only one week.
Do I Have to Be a Member?
Nope, anybody can participate in the JNMT Twitter Club. However, nonmembers must pay $15 to obtain CE credit (as is required of nonmembers for other types of JNMT CE credit).
What If I Miss a Discussion?
The richness of learning comes from engaging in active conversation with colleagues. However, if you miss a discussion, you can search for #JNMTclub to review it and even continue it when appropriate. Then, we would hope to see your handle in the next one!
Are There Any Rules for the JNMT Twitter Club?
Yes, tweet unto others as you would have them tweet unto you. (You knew that joke was coming!) A how-to guide including Twitter etiquette will be circulated for those new to Twitter or to journal clubs.
