2009, Journal of Pediatric SurgeryCitation Excerpt :To determine postinjury renal morphology and differential kidney function, each child underwent technetium-99m-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) renal scanning once complete healing was documented by follow-up imaging (3 months postinjury) and at 1 year postinjury to assess long-term changes. Radionuclide scanning results determined with split percentage function were interpreted in accordance to previous reports [8-11]. The DMSA results were classified as “normal to mild impairment” if the injured kidney provided greater than 40% differential renal function.
