AB  - A new algorithm for the semiautomatic detection of the left ventricular edge has been developed and a consistent technique for background subtraction has been refined. This new method of assessing left ventricular ejection fraction correlates well with contrast angiography and has minimal inter- and intraobserver variability. The technique allows both experienced and inexperienced observers to obtain accurate, reproducible results.
