AB This is the first in a series of four continuing education articles on AIDS patient management and care. This article is designed to present an overview of complications due to the AIDS virus and the use of nuclear medicine techniques to assist in patient management. Upon completion of this article the technologist will be able to: 1) identify complications due to the AIDS virus; 2) recognize the usefulness of gallium imaging for follow-up of these complications; and 3) recognize the importance of gallium imaging for early detection of complications.
