AB  - This is the second in a series of four continuing education articles addressing patient care and management. This text is designed to present the technologist with a basic understanding of the principles and workings of the EKG and its applications in the diagnosing and monitoring of arrhythmias. Upon completion of this article, the technologist should be able to: 1) explain the principles of an EKG and the heart’s conduction system; 2) identify a normal rhythm strip; and 3) recognize abnormal strips that may influence patient care during a nuclear procedure.
