AB  - Manual selection of left ventricular regions of interest (ROIs) in gated blood pool studies is subject to considerable interobserver variability. A computer program is described by which an observer’s selected ROIs are compared to predetermined standard regions for a series of test cases. The observers performance, including background and ventricular ROIs, ejection fraction, and relative ventricular volumes, is numerically scored. Such an objective evaluation serves as a quality control mechanism for gated studies as well as a valuable teaching aid for technologist and physician trainees.
