AB This is the first in a continuing education series of four articles related to scintillation camera technology. After reading this article, the reader should be able to: 1) understand the basic principles of present detector technology; and 2) discuss the advantages and disadvantages of gas, semiconductor, and inorganic crystalline detectors.
