AB This is the first article in a four-part continuing education series addressing patient care and the clinical management of disease. This series is not directed at nuclear medicine procedures themselves, but focuses on topics related to patients referred for nuclear medicine studies. After reading this article, the reader should be able to: 1) discuss the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism; and 2) discuss conventional versus thrombolytic approaches to therapy.
