AB  - A simple technique for determining some of the geometric characteristics of focusing collimators is described. Data obtained with this technique on 25 different collimators were compared with those given by the manufacturer and in the literature, and many deviations from published parameters were observed. These differences demonstrate the need to evaluate collimators before clinical use, which can be accomplished easily by what we call the contact picture technique.
