Nucl. Med. Technol.2022 Dec 01; 50 AB - A dual ectopic thyroid, a rare disorder occurring as a result of aberrant embryonic development, is characterized by the simultaneous presence of thyroid tissue at 2 ectopic sites. 99mTc-pertechnetate thyroid scintigraphy remains the gold standard in confirming ectopic thyroid tissue. This case highlights the importance of thyroid scintigraphy and SPECT/CT in the evaluation of ectopic thyroid tissue and a dual ectopic thyroid that manifested during the patient’s pregnancy.
